Great hostel for trekkers and group of friends. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and a daily "welcome meeting" at the cafe to make new friends. Private curtains on each bed for added personal space. Walking distance to Charles de Gaulle's birthplace and main attractions. Lots of surrounding restaurants. Nice Sunday program at the bar. Clean and spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Big common kitchen for cooking and storing food.
Felt right at home, no complaints.

The location of this hostel was great, with plenty of nearby attractions and the convenience of a 24-hour reception. The beds were comfortable, with privacy curtains and lockers for storage. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing assistance in English and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The lack of windows in some rooms made for a claustrophobic experience.

Just came back from a Thanksgiving stay at this hostel, and I must say there were some good things about it. The complementary breakfast was a nice touch, as well as the free Wi-Fi that worked well during most of our stay. The location was also a plus, as it was near many shops and restaurants. We also enjoyed one of the walking tours the hostel offered, which was insightful and gave us a chance to see the city in a new light.
There were some downsides as well. The noise from the street and the nearby bars made it hard to sleep, even with the earplugs provided by the hostel.

The location of the hostel was ideal, with a short walk to the train station and the city center. the staff were very friendly and spoke English fluently. the rooms were spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and plenty of plugs for charging devices. the bathrooms were also well-maintained. the communal kitchen, although not the best equipped, was still usable for preparing simple meals.
Families should be aware that the downstairs bar can get quite busy in the evenings, which may make finding a seat a bit frustrating.

I recently stayed at The People Hostel for a few days and had a fantastic experience. The bar was great and the communal kitchen was well kept and a wonderful place to meet fellow travelers. The beds were comfortable and the private curtains and lights were a nice touch. The building itself was beautiful with plenty of indoor and outdoor sitting areas. The staff was extremely helpful and kind, and the breakfast offered plenty of food. The location was conveniently located in the center, with lots of nearby restaurants offering delicious and affordable meals.
100% Recommend this hotel.

As a solo traveler, I stayed at The People for 5 nights. The hostel boasts modern amenities such as personal lamps, lockers, curtains, and power plugs for each bed, ensuring privacy and convenience. Despite staying in a 10 bed dorm, the space did not feel crowded. The cleanliness of the bathrooms and kitchen was commendable. The bar and backyard were great spaces to relax, and I regretted not being able to attend the welcome meeting. The staff were outstanding, with one even remembering my name overnight. The food and drinks at the bar were delicious, and the location was ideal, allowing for a good night's sleep. The People is reasonably priced and highly recommended.
Totally recommend this hotel.

The bunkers with curtains for privacy were a great feature, giving me the feeling of having my own space. having a separate shower from the toilet and a sink in the shared room made things more convenient. The location of the hostel was perfect, with easy walking access to the city center and plenty of nearby restaurants and bars.
The showers could definitely use improvement, as they weren't the best on both the ground and first floor. , the fact that breakfast was not included in the price was a bit disappointing, especially since there are other hostels at a similar price point that do offer this.

During my Christmas stay, I really enjoyed the cozy private room with a beautiful view of the surroundings. the reception setup was unique and allowed for a seamless transition between the bar and check-in area. the staff were friendly and even went above and beyond to serve drinks and create a lively atmosphere. the breakfast served in the bar was delightful, with unlimited coffee, tea, and a selection of homemade jams and cereals.
the lack of a microwave in the kitchen was inconvenient, as many guests, including myself, wanted to heat up food but were unable to do so. the rooms could use better sound-proofing, as I could hear conversations from the adjacent room and noise from running children in the morning.

During my Christmas stay, I loved the fantastic hostel with its great staff. the free walking tour was an absolute highlight, as I got to learn so much about the political and social history of the city. the knowledgeable tour guide made it a truly engaging experience. the dorms had curtains on the beds, providing privacy, and the quietness was enforced, allowing for a good night's rest. the hostel also had a lively bar/restaurant and various common spaces where guests could socialize and mingle.
The double bed in our room was not very comfortable as it was actually two twin beds pushed together. This made it difficult for my partner and me to sleep together comfortably.

the hostel is located in the charming Old Lille, which gives it a wonderful architectural atmosphere. There is also a cozy pub-cafe in the hostel where you can grab a drink and meet fellow travelers. the location is ideal, not far from the city center, with plenty of bars and restaurants in the lively vieux Lille area. One thing I really appreciated was the hostel providing a hairdryer, so I didn't have to bring my own. Plus, the welcome drink for solo travelers like myself was a delightful touch. Keep up the great work!
